You may consider me new only because I've just signed up...but I've been on BYC at least once a week for the past 4months. There's a lot to learn. It was my DH's idea to get chickens and I was sure I was not going to get involved...But they are just so cute and fun to watch. So, now I'm all in
We started our flock in March '09. We're trying to free range our chickens. Which has worked until our neighbors dog found out we had chickens. We have 36 acres south of Atlanta, GA with lots of trees and briars they can hide in and forage. If we could get our neighbors dog taken care of then we might be able to get some eggs
. We just bought some more babies locally and I don't want to let them out until I know the dog is "under control". So, here's a question for you all. I have a chicken-a buff, that I'm trying to nurse back to health-neighbors dog. She is 12wks old and she has a "knee" or what I would think would be her knee, that is "cut"-it looks like I can see her bone. I have her seperated from the rest of the flock and not using it other than getting food and water. She walks very well and just limps a little bit. What should I do for her to ensure that she makes it. She is so sweet. Well, I guess that is enough for now. I'm glad to be a part of the BYC forum.
