I'm new to byc just found out about it from my neighbor. I just lost a chicken this morning in a rather strange way. Wanted to see if anyone had any ideas about what happened.
She was on the shelf of the coop where they lay the eggs. She was having trouble breathing and couldn't keep her head up. Then she flopped right off the shelf and died about a minute later. I didn't know what to do as I watched helplessly.
We had just cleaned the coop and added fresh sand to the floor and hay to the shelf....We are fairly new to chickens over the last year, but thoroughly love having them.
Thanks for any ideas.
