My first experience with chickens was a poultry truck chicken that was sitting on the side of the road..cold, wet and dazed I took her home, not expecting this poor creature to live thru the day.
I had an old rubbermaid container a handful of straw and a heating pad, my thought was to make her warm and comfortable and let nature take care of the rest. That girl lived 2 years and was my constant companion.
Ms. Gladys passed away on a warm spring day and I could not believe how much I missed having a chicken follow me as I make my way thru the chores.
I am now owned by 55 chickens..aracanas, buff orpingtons, red & black stars and a cochin, 10 cats and 3 dogs.
