This seems to be a very informative community place. I am new to raising chickens as i am helping my girlfriend's daughter do this for her 4-H project for school. It has been fun for her kids and mine. That being said this was my first coop building as well, we lost 3 hens at the beginning of the summer to a family of raccoons that i later caught. That was a first for me as well and a very interesting experience. We still are waiting on our first egg. But my proudest moment to date was when she won 1st place Reserve Champion for two of them. I cant wait to see where they take us!
