New to BYC

Hello, I'm Debbie and new to BYC. I hope I will be able to get lots of advice here I have never owned a chicken. I have always lived in the city limits where chickens were not allowed. My hubby is in the army and stationed in Alabama, we now live in the country on 1 acre and decided to try out hand at raising chickens. I have ordered a few day old chick from a hatchery and they will ship on January 22nd. so I have a few weeks to get everything ready.

I am very excited to start this new chapter in my life.

you should find all the info. you need here in the learning center tab. If you can afford 1 good book on chickens, I recommend Storeys guide to raising chickens by Gail Damerow - it's my 'bible', Good luck, Sue
