Hi I am new to BYC. I live in Jackson, NJ. We have 3 breeds of chickens that are about 2 months old now. We completed our coop, and they are outside enjoying themselves. Any other Jackson NJ residents on this site? Need some advice, my neighbor is giving me trouble? I have 1.01 acres, he is trying to interpret the law of 45,000 sq ft, or 1.03 acre that "horses and other similar livestock", include chickens. It doesn't mention chickens at all. However, the chickens are pets that will supply us eggs foe out personal use and enjoyment, we aren't in the farming business.

Welcome to BYC!

I would call your local town hall and get the facts straight. If you are zoned for poultry, which has nothing to do with horses as many areas are now allowing hens, then it doesn't matter what your neighbors think.

You can connect with others in your area in your state thread to see how they are getting along....

And if you do run into trouble with your laws, we do have a Local Chicken Laws and How To Change Them section. Your area may even be talked about here....

Good luck with all this. Neighbors can be a pain in the rump sometimes. I hope you can get all this solved soon.
