Hello all of the chicken lovers out there. I just wanted to introduce myself. My name is Tori and I love to farm. I own 2 goats and 1 horse, both of which live at my house. I want to be more self sufficient, so i decided to try chickens for the first time, this year!!
I ordered 10 Rhode island reds at the feed mil and I also ended up getting 6 Tetra Tints from Tractor Supply. I got the 6 Tetra Tints exactly a week before I got my Rhode Island Reds. I thought the Tetra Tints might be a little dominate toward the Rhode Island Reds but that is absolutely not the case! all of them get along just fine. I love to watch them in their little box I made them from some scratch rough cut I had laying around. Some of their behavior worries me lol... but anyway the Tetra Tints were flying out of the box, and making a mess out of my tack room. So I moved them to the extra stall I have. I still sit there and watch them... they are fascinating! I take them outside occasionally when it is warm and they love it. Ive taught all 16 of them to come to me when I say "Here chick chick chicks" it is so funny! The tetra tints love to fly too... I was watching them the other day and one flew up on to my shoulder while I was standing! they just love me! lol But the Rhode island reds just aren't that friendly. they are really shy. is that in their nature? or will they get friendlier as they mature? also as i was observing them only the Rhode Island Reds fight/play... they use their chests to run into each other and stand up real tall. is that normal? or do i have couple roos on my hands? well i sure hope not... anyway I'm done with this. thanks for reading! please try to answer my questions! -Tori
