Hi from Alabama. We are a blended family of 8 and are fairly new to raising chickens. My husband and I decided with a family this size we need to be more self sustained than the average family. He has some history with taking care of chickens from working for a neighbor when he was growing up. I have never had chickens before. So this is a very big learning experience for me. We have 12 chicks at present, 4 Asia Blues and 8 Isa Browns, that are about 3 weeks old. We were looking for some good egg layers, so I hope we end up with some good layers. Any and all help/info is apreciated. Looking forward to this new (and hopefully longlasting) adventure.

Hi &

! Congrats! You should get good egg production from them!

Welcome to BYC. Glad you decided join our flock. I've never had Asia Blues, but I've raised Red Sex Links (Isa Brown is one of a number of labels under which some hatcheries market their Red Sex Links) for years, and they are hardy, egg laying machines. They, along with my Black Sex Links have been my best layers, consistently churning out more than 300 eggs per hen per year. You should get loads of eggs from those eight ladies.) Please feel free to ask any questions you may have. We are here to help in any way we can. Good luck with your flock.

Hi :welcome

Glad you could join the flock! Good luck with your new chicken adventure and I'm sure you will get lots of eggs. I started out with ISA Browns or warrens as they are called over here in the UK. They were excellent egg layers and a lovely bird to start out with.

Enjoy BYC and all the chicken chat :frow

Good morning and welcome to BYC!

We have 3 ISA Browns or Red Sexlink girls in our mixed flock and they are the most dependable egg layers we have. You should get lots of eggs with yours.

Good luck with your chickens and if you have any questions, feel free to ask questions.
