Hello All!

Just a quick introduction here as I'm should be off doing other things ...like getting children in bed :).
We are hoping to get chickens this spring. I say "we, " but I have to say that some of my children are less interested than others & my husband...well.
Funny thing is, I've always turned down the idea, when suggested, of getting chickens, but here I am... hoping to get started into this.
We have a lot to learn (& do!) before getting chicks, but I will say one of my biggest concerns is being able to keep predators away/birds safe & healthy...
Hoping to learn lots here~

Hello and welcome! I, too, am new to raising chickens. I kind of jumped into it head first! Hahaha :) I bought chickens before knowing what to do. Sort of learning as I go. I wish you and your family the best! My siblings and I have had a lot of fun with our little chickens and ducks.

Welcome to the flock. Please head for the predator and coops section to get some first hand advice about predators, and building a secure run and coop.

Generally after the chicks arrive, the rest of the family will come over to the chicken side. They are too adorable to resist even by husbands, and the kids will want to be involved also, especially 'IF' you don't ask them too.

Many times it is the owners personal pets - cats and dogs- that are the worst predators. It's best that pets and chickens never meet.
