my family had chickens when I was in my teens and I am now 42. its been a while and hopefully soon I will be raising chickens myself. lots of relearning to do. I have to check the ordinances here but I have my eye on a house around the corner that's for sale. it has a nice yard perfect to have a few chickens. on June 10th I was rushed to the hospital where they told me I had a stroke so I am mending and plans to get the house have gone to the back burner for a bit. I am living with a few other medical issues but am working on getting my mind back to our plans and am more determined than ever to make it happen. I do a lot of crafting so I hope to take my crafts from hobby to business and raise what we need to make it all happen. I live with my husband of 20 years who is a disabled navy veteran, our really close friend of 13 years, Thomas and 2 cats( our oldest cat is 12 and youngest is 2).

Sounds like a lot going on! You will find that those chickens will help a lot! I love them for therapy, for pets, for what ever works to keep me going.

Go to your state thread and see who is who. Fun to know there are folks around you with back yard chickens. Take care!!

Welcome to BYC. Glad you decided to join our flock. I've been raising chickens for 50 years, so you're still young. :o) Tell your husband I said "thank you" for his years of service to our country. Please feel free to ask any questions you may have. We are here to help in any way we can. Good luck in getting chickens.

I hope things continue to go well for you so you can have your flock soon. Chickens can be good therapy, they'll keep you active and entertained (and fed with wonderful eggs). Thank you to your husband for his service. Please keep us posted on how your chicken adventure is going. If you have questions, feel free to ask.

Nice to have you here!
