New to Chicken Owner

if you decide to get chicks next year i recommend welsummers, plymouth rocks and black austrolourps(?) and the meyer hatchery
(the black astrolourps lay five eggs a week)

If you've got them in separate cages where they can see each other, they should be ok for getting along later, especially when the chick grows up and they're the same size. :p

You don't have to have a nesting box, but if you do it makes egg collecting a bit easier. We don't have boxes, and our chickens lay everywhere. Although after a while they do usually find a "spot" they like.

It might take a week or two for your hen to get used to the new home and start laying. Depends on how old she is too, I guess. Older hens might not lay so much.
