New to Chicken Owner

if you decide to get chicks next year i recommend welsummers, plymouth rocks and black austrolourps(?) and the meyer hatchery
(the black astrolourps lay five eggs a week)

If you've got them in separate cages where they can see each other, they should be ok for getting along later, especially when the chick grows up and they're the same size.

You don't have to have a nesting box, but if you do it makes egg collecting a bit easier. We don't have boxes, and our chickens lay everywhere. Although after a while they do usually find a "spot" they like.

It might take a week or two for your hen to get used to the new home and start laying. Depends on how old she is too, I guess. Older hens might not lay so much.
