New to chicken raising. Hello

I see one black cochin male and one female in the pic with 2 black birds.
The bird the little boy is holding is a male but I am not sure on breed.
The pic with 3 buff birds there is a male in the middle.

Beautiful birds all of them.

I looked again and have to agree. The pic with 2 black cochins has both males.

I agree, I believe the two little black Cochins pictured together are cockerels, and the one your son is holding is a cockerel. In the picture with the three buff colored birds together, the middle one appears to be a cockerel. I think that might be the same one your son is holding though. Could you try to get some pictures of the Rhode Island Red mixes?

Thank you and yes I will try, I think I will do it in the coop this time, they were not being very cooperative during their yard time.

Well.... that puts me at 4 roosters now and only 3 hens from the batch I got from the store. Not at all the ratio I was hoping for .

If you get chicks from the bantam bin they're always unsexed. And straight run chicks seem to always be more cockerels than pullets.

Sounds about right when buying ST Run chicks.

Lol be thankful there were any pullets at all...I've read a couple threads on here that their straight run batch ended up all cock a doodle doos! Just gives you and the fam an excuse to go out and try again!

Getting more cockerels out of the bunch seems totally normal. Hopefully you can re- home some. Best to have 10 hens per cockerel(rooster) so the girls aren't constantly bred.
