Hey everyone! I'm Angie from western NY. I'm a stay-at-home mom to 7 kids, 8 indoor cats and 3 little dogs. After begging my husband for nearly 13 years, he finally let me get chickens!!! A week ago, I brought home 4-8 week old chicks I bought from someone on craigslist. I also met (only online) slabcrappy (Sal) who so kindly answered a post of mine on craigslist asking for help regarding chickens, and he introduced me to this forum. He has also answered many, many questions via email and identified the breed of chickens we have. He said Rhode Island Red, Jersey Giant, Ameracauna, New Hampshire Red. We are hoping they are hens.
I posted a picture of them below.
I have a TON to learn and when my computer works properly, I enjoying searching and reading through all the invaluable information here on the forum. A big thank you to each and every person who has shared their triumphs and trials, as I'm learning so much. It is also been incredible to read about info pertaining to predator-proof coops and runs, as my husband is *trying* to build something for the chickens, as we are allowing them to free range during the day (we have 4 acres and I'm home daily and have tons of shrubs and bushes and things in the yard for them to hide under) and I've been keeping them in an extra large dog crate in our garage at night, although it is not ideal.
I look forward to meeting you and learning all I can here!
