New to chickens and coops

I had planed to have the coop elevated and not stuck on 8x8 just went there do to wood sizes...

I'll say it again, chickens in Dallas don't need a coop. Your coop will easily get over 100* in the summer and they will avoid it like the plague. 1 or 2 light frosts is a welcome relief and they won't miss a beat. Explore other options. Find locals who can give you advice on what they would recommend and what works for them.

So the nest box will be external. The ground space will be 8x8. Or 8x12 and the. Coop house will be 4x8.... 3 sided six the 4th side Brie get able to close.
