New to chickens and need help ASAP

2 eggs are cracked (very beginning)(I think you guys call it piped, I'm sorry, I'm new to these words

). I heard a chick a couple of time! I'm SOOOOOooooo excited! These are from under my hen! How much time do I give them to get out? Should I hear them all the time?

They will take a long rest after piping so don't worry if you don't hear them all the time. It can take over a day from pip to hatch.

Yeah, it can easily take 24 hours. The fastest I've ver had a chick hatch is 3 hours, and the slowest (that survived) was about 40 hours. I would say the average is 12-24 hours depending on the eggs.

I now have 2. One other egg is tweeting! I had a total of 12 eggs! They are technically suppose to hatch one every day! I'm guessing (and hoping) that we will have another one tomorrow. My hen (no really the mother!) is sitting on that one. The other ones are in an incubtor since there was too many and they are suppose to hatch every day for the next 10 days! My husband likes taking pictures. So I present Gizmo (the one with the head up, the first one) and Splash (the second one). Any ideas what color they will be? Gizmo is darker so I'm guessing brown and black like the real mom. Splash is lighter so maybe white and black? The dad is pure white and the mother is black with buff (brown) wings.


BTW these are NOT eggs from the incubator, they are from my fridge so none of my 10 babies (eggs) have been harm for the pictures
