I have 4 chicks that are around 14 weeks old. All different breeds. Hoping all are hens but have some concerns with 2. Anyways, my black Violet (aka Violent), makes an odd sound. And is the only one who makes it. Not sure if she is just warning me to leave her (hopefully) alone or if something is wrong? Thanks!

Any way to upload video, so you can hear her? Thanks!
Are you sure that "she" is not trying to crow? It sounds a bit like a squeaky, rusty child's wagon wheel ...

EDIT - (Not my video - just a really good beginner's crow from YouTube!)

Doesn't sound like that, but I have wondered it she was a he. It is the mean one and has most comb.

That looks like a pullet, and I think she's just getting her big chicken voice. Sounds normal to me.
Thanks! That makes me feel better, these chickens are already part of the family and I was stressing last night. My son also commented on it, so it made me more sensitive to it.

:welcome I agree that the bird looks fine and may be loosing it's peep and getting it's adult voice. Good luck and have fun...

No worries:hugs
They do become part of the family and we tend to stress over them. Chickens make all kinds of noises, some will sound like a honking goose when they are finding their "voice".
