Hello everyone, This week I became a new chicken raiser. We have 4 chickens in a self made coup and run. We have 1 Rhode island red, and 3 barred chickens. We decided to build our own custom chicken coupe and run. The coup is 3 levels with the first and second level separated with perches and the top level being the nesting box's. It is 2'x4'x4' the run is 8'x5'x2'.

I've got the same red scalloped pavers (think they call 'em) and skunks, opossums and raccoons push them out of the way easily.They are stronger and more determined than you would think.
 
we put them there to help keep our dogs from digging near the pen, and hopefully deter groundhogs. So far we have not seen any around our pen or coup.

no name is now Avery. Matilda and Avery were two of the students I carried to school, that gave me pointers about chickens.
