Hi! We are new to backyard chicken farming and bought 3 pullets for our first try. They were 9-12 weeks when purchased and we've had them for at least 2 months. Recently one started crowing in the mornings. I was hoping for some help in determining if she is a rooster or simply a crowing hen. She has always been the most dominant for the 3. I'll attach a photo and thanks for your help!

I can't see the photo clearly enough but, I'm betting it's a rooster. If you intend to keep it - you will need to add several hens. A rooster can service 10 hens - much less and the girls will get overbred to the point of injury.

If you don't need fertile eggs for hatching - you don't need a rooster. The hens will continue to lay (non fertile) eggs. It's up to you.

Yes, that is definitely a cocka-a-doodle-roo! It has the hackle and tails feathers of a roo and no mistake. Very pretty too!

I'd say of Ameracauna descent but not pure.

So how do you like the five gallon waterier is it working out for you very well I found out I need to get several more and the fresh water goes faster then if I have the water in polls that get dirty and they seem to do better with the clean water .........
