New to chickens, diving straight in

I talked to Meyer's about this at length. I basically said I know I'd have a hard time distinguishing my chickens if they were all the same. And I want to be able to keep an eye on individuals I thought might be sick. They also said that I could get different breeds with different eggs. So if the eggs of one aren't showing up as much, then that could also be a sign of unhealthy chickens

This is a fabulous idea. I actually got a mixed flock like this for the exact same reason!
