New to chickens; excited, unsure, & open to all y'alls knowledge!

I check out the learning center there is a lot of great information there. From my experience, some great breeds for kids are; Orpingtons, Silkies, Cochins, and Easter Eggers.
Thank you Pineapple416! I will be sure to check those out! I guess we did good with the 3 Buffs . They are already responding to the kids voices, which I just find amazing. We are 2 weeks in, and we all are in love with the these chicks! I was wanting a black Australorp for myself, but didn't have any chicks until now ..... maybe next year if we are a success at our first 4.
Thanks for your advice, and I hope you have a great day!

Hello,
Welcome to the site! I use to volunteer at a farm that helped children with disabilities, and the chickens we had the most success with were Silkies and Black Australorp. I am a little partial to the Silkies, plus a lot of the kids like them because they are very soft and a different texture. Both are the kind that will come up to you in the pen and hop onto your hand. I wish you all the luck in your chickening adventures! Let me know if you need anything or have any questions. I live in Texas so I would love to help you out if you need ideas to keep the chickens cool on those hot days.
Much Love,
Morgan

IMG_2369.PNG . We have family in Abilene, TX, and actually love Texas very much! I was wanting to get a Black Australorp, but they just got some chicks in last week, so I didn't know if I could mix ages or not. I am definitely going to look into a silkie for Madison (aka Tater) I think she would love one that is soft.
Thank you for your insight, and I'm sure we will be in touch!
Love,
Missy (FireWife443)
