Medistatin dosage questions

I have a 1 yr old pet ameraucanas hen named Betty who had a blockage which took 2 months to clear. This caused sour crop and she now has a pendulous crop. I have been fighting this since the original blockage in June. Her crop still isn’t moving properly on its own so I give her crop rubs as well as her papaya enzymes 2x daily (crop rubs as needed which is normally 3-4 times a day) I realize obviously there must be an underlying issue but since her quality of life is still “normal” I’m trying to figure out what a daily dosage of medistatin would be to keep her sour crop under control. I have been dosing her her 1gram 3X daily for 7 days on then 7 days off to try to give her a break. Just wondering if I’m able to do daily in her food to keep it under control always. Any advice about this would be greatly appreciated!!
(Vet unfortunately not an option where I am-too far & too expensive)

If her crop is Pendulous, she may benefit from a Bra to help keep the crop pushed up into a more natural position. See the image below. The crop hangs just a bit, but the opening to the Proventriculus rises just a little. When the crop loses muscle tone sometimes the contents aren't pushed up correctly, so a Bra can help. In the thread below, @azygous shows how to make a Bra and throughout the thread she gives her input and observations of what she experienced along with how she made adjustments/modifications to the bra so her hen could benefit.

Thanks for the crop bra info..I made her one but she hates it and walks funny with it on. Will check out the link in case it’s got better idea. I saw the other link re dosage that was how I dosed her to begin with… my dilemma is that I need to give it to her for the rest of her life. So I need to know if there’s a different dosage for daily use or an on off situation.

I would try to avoid giving her Nystatin for the rest of her life, I would try to resolve the sour crop.

I would try to work on a bra and see if that makes a difference.

The bra doesn’t make a difference
I believe she has a blockage farther down her tract which causes her crop not to move well without massage help. That’s why I’m trying to find out if someone knows of a low daily dose she can take to keep things under control on a daily basis instead of going a week treatment a week off… Hoping to just add it to her food instead of syringing 3x a day which she hates

Rather than using an antifungal each day, a better solution is to add helpful microbes each day to her digestive tract. Go to the pharmacy where the digestive aids and laxatives are shelved and get a bottle of probiotic tablets. I like acidophillus. But any kind will do.

Give one tablet each day directly into her beak. This will help to offset the yeast microbes and hopefully tip her digestive tract microbes back to a more normal balance. This is safe and cheap and worth trying.

Have been putting ACV in her water.. I had vitamins with probiotics to add to her water but she’d just refuse to drink so I stopped. Pill at least I can force
