Hello,

My name is Michael and my bride and I have decided to raise chickens on our (in progress) homestead. I found the sample questions to post and figure that's as good a way as any to tell y'all about myself, so here goes:
(1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens?

I am new to chickens, my bride grew up on an egg farm with commercial layers.

(2) How many chickens do you have right now?

12

(3) What breeds do you have?

Six Silkies, 2 Buff Orpingtons, 2 Barred Rocks, One Brown Leghorn and One RI Res

(4) What are your favorite aspects of raising backyard chickens?

Watching them, and having fresh eggs

(5) What are some of your other hobbies?

Motorcycle riding.

(6) Tell us about your family, your other pets, your occupation, or anything else you'd like to share.

I am a grateful Christian, a father of four with one grandchild, and a 24yr veteran of the US Navy. Currently a Federal Civilian employed by the US Navy

(7) Bonus: How did you find BYC, how long have you known about BYC, and what made you finally join our awesome community? :D

I was looking for reviews on the EZ Frames coop kit and landed here ;)

Hello Michael and welcome to BYC - it’s great that you have joined us. Please make yourself at home.

This is a useful link of “How to” BYC guides to take a look at announcements-feedback-issues-guides.3. I’d suggest including your location using the guide in the link. You can use this link to contact members in your area - Find your State's thread.

Best wishes

Welcome. I have lived in Texas a very long time but grew up in the area. Helped start the first college campus there. A lot of history in your town. Remember when Suffolk was just a small town in Nansemond. Still have a lot of family that live in and around Suffolk. Good luck.
