We are new to chickens and have 4 chickens that we rescued / adopted and raised from young, 1 leghorn - 7 weeks, 3 Brahma's (1 dark, 6 weeks old, and not sure on the other 2, buff maybe) which are 5-6 weeks old) from a friend who keeps chickens, 2 was were rejected by there mother, splayed legs and they needed some friendly company and we planned to keep 4, hence the 4.. they all get along well together and we never realised they grow so quickly! every day they have grown a little more!

Next steps are to continue to learn more about them, determine there sex, build them a home in our UK garden and move them from their temp indoor home.

We enjoy how they all have there own personalities and are quite tame, with a couple coming to find us for a stroke. They are tricky picture subjects as so inquisitive and want to investigate the camera and always moving around... will have to get a picture of them all together... the Chicken band.

Have a couple of older rescue cats that will be introduced slowly when the chickens are big enough and in their secure garden coop / run / home.

Looking forward to learning more about chickens.

Welcome to BYC! Thanks for joining us.
The first black and white chick is male. He's also not a white Leghorn. Might be another color Leghorn that I'm not familiar with, or a different breed.
The first Brahma is dark and is a pullet. The other pictures like gold partridge. The last four pictures, are those the same or two different birds? Looks like you have one or two more males, but it's still early.

Many thanks for the reply, was hoping for a few girls, maybe an Exchequer leghorn?. The last 4 pics are 2 different chicks from the same parents, hatched close to each other, 5&6, one chick, 7&8 the 2nd chick.. early days...

Exchequer slipped my mind. That is what he looks like. If your gold or dark brahmas start feathering out mostly black in the next few weeks you've got boys. Keep an eye on them.
