New to chickens. I have lurked this site for a year and finally got myself 5 baby chicks. I'm scared to death they'll not do well under my care. Help

Not even sure how to use this site for info but I need it all for my new babies. Keeping in the sunroom now as we build coop and run. Just 3 days old but seem to be eating,drinking well. I'm reading all I can on raising chicks. Anything I need to concentrate on first? Thanks for any-all info!

Welcome. It's ok that you reach out to everyone for help but you should have done lots of research and reading before you got them. I read the a Chicken Bible front to back before I even picked my chickens. I only wanted females so I educated myself on which breeds to get. I've had 22 chickens so far and no rooster to date. There is just so much to know. I wish you a long and happy time with them. Please keep them safe.

Maybe put some apple cider vinegar and hydro hen in there water to help there immune system

Hello! Welcome to BYC!

For now just make sure they have a big enough brooder, clean water and food, a clean brooder, and heat. If using a heat lamp make sure the whole brooder isn't being hit with that heat, so the chicks have somewhere to escape the it.

What's your brooder look like now?

Hello and welcome! Here’s a tip , never use a Teflon coated heat lamp bulb… It kills all the birds in just a few hours.
