New to chickens in Alabama

I just received 15 chicks from McMurray Hatchery on Wed! I am so excited! I bought a prefab coop and small run but I know now I will be adding to that! My chicks are so cute and changing daily! I'm glad to have a forum where I can ask all the questions I'm sure I will have.

I have a chick I just noticed is a little ruffled up and just standing there. I gave her a little sugar water to perk her up. I hope it helps. I am going to get some yogurt tomorrow. They are getting probiotics and electrolytes in their water.

Beautiful assortment - what breeds did you order? You can also get Polyvisol pediatric vitamin drops from a drug store, Walmart etc. For very young chick I would suggest 2 drops 3 x a day. You can put the drops just inside the beak, so if it doesn't want to swallow it can push them out.

I got several different Wyandottes, a Buff Ope, Partridge Rock hen & rooster, a light Brahma, Speckled Sussex, Black australorp (I think this is the sick one), a NH Red, Buttercup and a Golden Polish.

I gave the sick chick some sugar water a couple of times and some water with electrolytes in it. I will see how she is in the morning. Thanks!

I think my sick chick is my male or female Partridge Rock. I only ordered one rooster and he's the PR. I hope it isn't him that's sick.

My little sick chick died last night. I knew she would. She was just laying face down when I went to bed. The rest look great! I hope it's the only one I lose.
