Hello all, my name is Bryan. My husband and I currently live in Elk Grove, CA and we were excited to learn the just last year our little town made it so people could keep up to 6 pet hens on our property! Since I've had good luck with animal based forums in the past I thought I'd create a profile here and check it out. Now, onto the question list!
(1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens?
Yes, though I've wanted them for over a decade. Our first chickens will be arriving Feb 6th!
(2) How many chickens do you have right now?
Right at this moment, none, but starting Feb 6th we should have 2 or 3 Serama hens coming in.
(3) What breeds do you have?
For now only Seramas but I'd also really like to get a speckled sussex and salmon faverolle.
(4) How did you find out about BackYardChickens.com?
Just a general google search while looking for various information on chickens.
(5) What are some of your other hobbies?
I play video games, brew beer, read a lot, we also keep and breed a couple species of reptiles.
(6) Tell us about your family, your other pets, your occupation, or anything else you'd like to share.
Right now my family consists of myself, my husband, 2 dogs (a standard rat terrier and yellow lab), 3 cats, and a variety of reptiles including geckos; snakes; and tortoises, and soon chickens! I'm currently in school to finish of my BA in Anthropology and am in training to be a dog groomer. While we live in suburbia right now it's always been a dream of mine to have a small farm, which is a dream we are currently working toward.
