Hello all,

My name is Eric and I've always wanted to raise chickens. I never looked into it because I thought you had to have a lot of land for a farm. Last year my wife and daughter started a garden and are expanding it this year. While researching the garden I came across an article about raising back yard chickens. Needless to say I will have some before too long. I've been researching them for a couple of days now and I think I have my plan at hand. Love the website and can't wait to dive in for more information and sharing.

Welcome to BYC Eric! Before anything happens, i just wanted to let you know that chicken manuer is highly acidic, so you may may want to mulch it first, or only use it in small ammounts. Good luck with your chickens!

Hello Flytie,

Our plan was to just compost it for a season before using it. We are also planning on a chicken tractor to house them in and still keep the grass!
