Hello BYC world! We're brand new to chick rearing (in the suburbs of Texas no less), but so far so good. Our chicks were hatched on Valentines Day, which makes them very special to us, according to my daughter. We have 2 Austrolorps (Pigwedgeon and Tonks), 1 Americana (Hedwig), and 1 Barred Rock (Bellatrix)--let's hope they are all girls because we've already named them. We can't wait until they start laying and helping us compost. 6 months can't come quick enough! Time to immerse myself in more chicken literature from all of you seasoned chicken experts here! Thanks!
