Hi all,

Another newbie has joined the flock. Just getting started in chickens; enjoying every minute of it.

Thanks for the warm welcome.

Our flock resides in Alaska. I couldn't decide which chicken breeds to get, so I got a variety: 2 light brahmas, 2 australorps, 1 BO, 1 barred rock, 1 white rock, 1 silver laced wyandotte, 2 bantams, 2 easter eggers, and 1 mystery red hen (was supposed to be a gold laced wyandotte, but is definitely NOT that). I LOVE the australorps. They are so comical and sweet.

We also have 14 younger peeps: 5 welsummers, 1 new hampshire red, 2 australorps, 3 easter eggers, 1 RIR, 1 BO, 1 gold laced wyandotte.

the Australorps are very good birds! we have 3 hens, 1 teenaged pullet, and a boat load of chicks
they are the best layers of the flock and are very funny!

It's so nice to share this obsession with fellow addicts.

My daughters (ages 15 and 18) are also enjoying the chickens.

Here are pictures of the girls enjoying oatmeal and yogurt for breakfast. They are a very colorful, lovely bunch of birds.

Also, a picture of one of my easter eggers. Meet Olivia.

That is a great looking group of birds. I cannot wait till mine are grown and look so nice. We are very new to chickens and just hooked.
My sister lives in Anchorage. Do you have problems with predators? Bears, etc?
