New to chickens ...our new coop w/pix!

That is the coolest thing! I called my mom over to show it to her, then she's like "We could get one of those for free" I was just like "okay, next year when I get lots more chickens" She just glared at me

Hey ,thanx for all the comments! The roofing material called for a 3 inch per foot pitch and we wanted a lot of overhang....so that's why it looks kind of tall ...the sides of the roof will be closed in but the front will be open for ventilation-there's a large wire covered vent in the ceiling of the box. Barred Rock chicks being delivered on 9/4/08 ...can't wait!

pullllleeez tell us where you found the packing crate?

I found the packing crate on craigslist -they're used by moving and storage companies to store personal belongings and furniture....with very little time off from work I needed a shortcut to walls and floor......the crates are really well designed-they pack flat and are held together with metal clips-takes about 10 minutes to reassemble it's 7'x5'x7'......we don't often get a lot of high winds here and the coop is in a relatively well protected area in the woods .

That overhang is going to be great for ventilation and you will be loving it in the pouring rain when you are fumbling with the door with your hands full!
What a beautiful wooded spot!
