Hello, my name is Tim and I live near savannah georgia. I've been thinking about raising a few chickens for over a year now and have finally decided to do it. I think I want to start with 4 or 5 hens, maybe a rooster maybe not. Any suggestions on beginner breeds for me that would do well in this region are very welcome. I'm finishing my coop and run this weekend and will be getting ready to get some chickens in the next few weeks. I'm open to any information I can get ( I've read a book but that can only get you so far). I'm thinking I want to start with a few juvenile birds. I don't think I'm ready for chicks or fertile eggs. Mainly interested in eggs and pets...for now. Thanks for all the help and I'm looking forward to getting going!
