Hello everyone,

Being that i am starting out as a new small size chicken farmer, i would like to get information about where i may be able to purchase chickens to add to my collection. We started this through a friend of my wife from her work. He was moving and the new city would not permit chickens. Since we resently moved to a property with acreage, my wife offered to raise the chickens. Now we are needing to add more chickens. Does anyone know where we can purchase chickens in the dallas texas metroplex area? would like to get hens fairly quickly.

Thanks, Gil

Hi Gil, welcome to BYC!

You might check in with the members on your state thread. Here's a link to get you there:

When you do find some more, take some time to read up on integration. You'll want to isolate the new birds from your existing flock for 30 days to be sure you aren't introducing some illness or pests first. Then the "look but don't touch" way of letting the birds all get used to each other before mingling will help keep injuries and stress down.

Good luck finding the birds you want. Nice to have you here!
