New to Chickens

Hello, I have 4 Buff Orpington pullets. I don't have the legal amount of space to keep them in my yard so I took them out in the country to a friend and helped build a coop for them. I am hoping that the city I live in will change the distance needed between house and coop to 50 ft or less. The city will do nothing until after September 1st, 2017 so they will know if the state mandates a change. I'm trying to remain hopeful.
