New to chickens

Welcome to BYC, You will love your birds. RIR ( Rhode Island Reds) are great birds. I had a pair of chicks this year and raised since they were 2 days old. One ended up being a cockerel and we had to get rid of him. He was a good bird but in my area we can not have roosters. My hen will greet me at the gate and pull on my pants leg wanting to get petted. Once she gets my attention then she is back to doing what ever else she was up to or seeing what treats I brought them. You will love yours. Just be hands on with them. But as you go into their territory move them aside as you want to always be the dominate one in charge. YOU ARE head of the flock.

Thank you for that information, I like a sassy animal, so they sound like they are going to be fun! I'll keep everyone posted on my progress. Thanks again
