New to chickens

Hello Nancy and welcome to Backyard Chickens! It is a pleasure to have you and nice to meet you, wishing you a happy and healthy New Year. As far as it goes with your question concerning bumblefoot, it is not an issue I've delt with in my flock but I hope your hen cures up quickly for you. You will not catch anything from the eggs your hen had laid, the ovary system is different from the nerve system which means that her eggs will be edible and fine to eat. (I am no expert but hope this helps). Good luck and God bless! By the way, thank you @Better Than Rubies for mentioning me. :)

G’Day from down under Nancy :frow Welcome!

Best wishes getting your girl's bumblefoot sorted out.

I do hope you enjoy being a BYC member. There are lots of friendly and very helpful folks here so not only is it overflowing with useful information it is also a great place to make friends and have some fun.

If you would like to share Pictures and Stories of your flock, you have come to the right place. BYC’ers never tire of these and do not back away slowly or commence eye rolling when the photo album or home videos come out ;)

Welcome to BYC!

Here is my best advice for navigating this forum:

If you have not already, put your location in your profile, not your address or anything but at least your state that will help you get better advice, and speaking of advice....

Almost everyone here is an absolute expert on almost everything imaginable, take me for example I have left advice about freezing temps and I live in Southern California. So take the best and leave the rest.

Once you do get some good advice, and you will, then follow said advice... Example being the guy who burned down his coop after being advised not to use a heat lamp in the coop and then talks about how to place the heat lamp going forward in the new coop....

Stay away from religion and politics, trust me on this, its just not worth it:oops:

Oh, and build BIG, chicken math is real:plbb

Welcome to the flock!

Thank you for the information i feel better about that. Now i dont think it is bumblefoot no scab. Not sure why she is limping but she has a scratch alone the top between two claws. Soaked it and put neosporin on it.
