Thanks to the great people here we learned we lost most of our flock to a Teflon coated bulb. Their bulb broke and my husband had one of these in his work van we thought we could use until we got another red one. I thought it being shatter resistant was a bonus. Turns out it releases toxins that killed most of our flock. I’m horrified, heartbroken, embarrassed, and mad at myself for being so clueless- I hope our error can save someone else the same tragic result.

What a tragic event. I am so sorry you had this happen to your babies, our hearts break for you my dear.

Keep us posted on your thread in the Emergency section, I hope your still ailing hen is beginning to recover!
