Hello. We have dreamed of living in the country for over 3 years. This past fall we were finally able to purchase our Homestead. Chickens will be your first livestock.
We are a family of 6 and can't wait to get started. We plan on taking it slow and asking lots of questions. We want to make sure that we do it right. We know we'll probably make a lot of mistakes but as long as we have other people to help us along the way.... I think we'll be okay.

Welcome to Backyard chickens. How great that your dream of living in the country has become a reality. If you put your state name in the search box, it should bring the state thread up so you can post on it.

You may even find BYCERS living near you who could give hands on examples of how they manage their flocks, what breeds do best in the climate, etcetc.

G'Day from down under NewLifeAcres :frowWelcome and Congratulations! :clap

I hope you enjoy being a BYC member. There are lots of friendly and very helpful folks here so not only is it overflowing with useful information it is also a great place to make friends and have some fun.

BYC has Topic of the Week discussions which I have found to be a great resource, informative and sometimes entertaining; so definitely worth checking out.

If you would like to share Pictures and Stories of your flock when they arrive, you have come to the right place. BYC’ers never tire of these and do not back away slowly or commence eye rolling when the photo album or home videos come out ;)

Including your general location on your profile will assist others. Location, climate, season etc can be important factors when members are responding to any questions you may have and vice versa.
