New to Chickens!

Hello, and welcome! Glad that you joined us! I would build a better coop and run for them. There are plenty of good coop building idea's here at this site. You can pick the best one that fit's your need's. Those pre-made coop's are usually pretty flimsy also, and if you live in an area that has strong wind's, they can blow apart. My first coop was like that. My chick's were still in the brooder at that time, so thankfully I didn't loose any of them.

Hi All—-

I joined this group because I just purchased six ladies for eggs (Golden Comets.) I wish I had joined before purchasing a coop—-I should have made one. The Tractor Supply coop is nice, but will probably be too small when they are full grown and doesn’t seem predator proof. I do have a few questions—-is anyone in the Gaston County/Charlotte area? I would love to have someone nearby that I could get advice? Where is the best place to buy feed and bedding? Etc...

Thanks,
Laura in Gastonia, NC

So glad to have you here in our wonderful community of friendly, helpful, knowledgeable people!
