Thanks everyone. I picked up my chicks this morning and oh my gosh, I know you understand how cute they are. I have the dog crate/brooder set up on a dresser so I can sit in the chair and be on their level. If I put a hand in one of them immediately gets on it. They seem to like the platform heater too - they go under for awhile and get nice and warm and come back out to eat and explore. And Songster, I will be thrilled if the chickens eat invading mice - Life in the Food Chain - and it might be gross but at least I won't have to deal with the mouse.

Welcome to BYC! There is so much to see, do, and learn here. I have a Dominique, and she is a wonderful chicken. Very fluffy and friendly, makes high-pitched noises, and recently proved herself as a great lap chicken too.

Thanks! I put the whole brooder in the coop yesterday with the door open so they can explore their larger world, and they’re doing well. Running all around.
