Hi everyone. I’m new to chickens and have a lot to learn. I ordered 12 Buff Orpington chicks and have noticed a few with spots on their head. Does anyone know what this is? They hatched approx 8/30-8/31. Did I not get all Buff Opringtons like I was supposed to? It looks like the down is a different color. I don’t notice anything live on them. Thanks for the help!

Welcome to BYC!! That’s not natural. I think they were marked for your order. It’ll go away once they molt their down.

Thanks! I tried googling if hatcheries do this but could never find a definite answer. Your response makes me feel better. I’m excited to see these little ones grow. They look like beautiful birds once they’re grown. Thanks again.
