(1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens?
Yes - first chicks in May 2025

(2) How many chickens do you have right now?
9 but need to rehome a few roos (too many)

(3) What breeds do you have?
Mille fleur d'uccle, silver d'uccle, black silkies, polish, lavender orp, and a few barnyard mix

(4) What are your favorite aspects of raising backyard chickens?
They are silly and fun pets! My Mille fleur roo loves to sit on my shoulder

(5) What are some of your other hobbies?
Working out, beading jewelry, gardening

(6) Tell us about your family, your other pets, your occupation, or anything else you'd like to share.
I also have 2 dogs and 3 cats in addition to the chicks

(7) Bonus: How did you find BYC, how long have you known about BYC, and what made you finally join our awesome community
Discovered byc when I had a sick chick and was scouting the internet for advise

It's great to have you here. What a lovely variety you have! For rehoming roos, I suggest an auction.

You can also check fb for poultry and/or livestock groups in your county and close by, for rehoming/selling. We have worked with a local Mennonite family in helping us with some of the excess cockerels over a couple of years. Once I traded 2 cockerels for a pullet. 19-20 wks, and they allowed me to purchase one ($10 or $11) as I did not want to introduce a single pullet.

I also have needed to cull a few.

This is a wonderful site on which to Learn and enjoy. We are pleased to have you in the community.
