New to Chickens

And where I live... you never know who is going to show up. Just went out to the coop... and found this...

It was 4, maybe 5 inches tall
Its very cute, but if it can get into your coop, you need to repair and secure openings because your flock is in danger.

I've had other incidents from leaving the coop door open. I once walked into the coop... and saw a skunk eating an egg. It didn't even know I was there. I backed out slowly and got my .22 rifle

There was very little "release". I got lucky that time. 🙄

When I first saw it, it looked like a little statue. It didn't move. It was bitter cold last night. It probably wanted to warm up.
My daughter & I rescued an owl with a broken wing from the turn lane on a busy street a few years ago. It was a great horned owl. We had him for almost 24 hours while we waited for the dept of wildlife to come and take him off our hands. He was a gorgeous creature.

And about the baby Screech Owl... my cousin and I agree about the owl. It was cold, so it probably sought refuse in my coop.

Guess I played "Motel 6" for a brief moment. I did find a couple of dead mice in the coop afterwards.
