Well, I have been inspired to start a bit of an urban flock, I am from Windsor, Ontario. A friend of the family has some hens and is putting in an order for some chicks soon for the both of us. I am still open to suggestions about what laying hens I should get for my climate. I was thinking RIR? Any ways hopefully I get some replies here thanks!

from Ohio. So glad you joined. You may want to look for birds that are cold weather tolerant and have small combs, less likely to suffer frostbite. Good luck.

Greetings! Wyandottes, Buckeyes, Chanteclers, and Americaunas all have small combs, and the first three are noted for their cold-hardiness. I believe the Chantecler originated in Canada!
