New to chickens :)

Hi! I am researching like crazy and found BYC. I hope to get lots of great advice from you all!
Honestly I'm still working on finding the right plans for my coop. I want to build as opposed to Pre-built because I don't see any out there that have the look I want. I want to either match the existing buildings on the farm, or build something shabby-chic I have no clue how to build out the interior so I'm hoping that the two books I have ordered (idiots guide and storeys) will help with that. I'm thinking of starting with 6-8 with room for a total of 12 if I decide to expand. Anyway, all suggestions are appreciated. Btw, I live in GA

Lots of coops are here but, if you really want to match the look of your home you may need a carpenter or handy man.

What is the advantage of elevating the coop?

Helps protect from critters and wooden floor on the ground will rot.

i would suggest a poop board under the roost it works great and saves time cleaning

Welcome. I live on alaska and find that coots cain be very simple and work just fine. Ventilation and accessible power are biggies
