Hello all, my wife and I just got 6 chickens to have a small back yard flock. We have 2 reds, 1 Black Sexlink, a Gold and a Silver Sebright and a Black Frizzle (smooth). they are all between 4 and 8 weeks old. i built a coop and tractor for them. we are looking forward having fresh eggs in a few months. we are from Sioux Falls South Dakota, its a new ordinance that you can keep up to six chickens with in city limits, just no roosters. we are fairly sure that most of ours are hens. except our frizzle and silver sebright, who are the youngest at 4 weeks. we are holding off on getting rid of them until we are certain that they are roos. but was just wondering if the development of combs or waddles on either of them are a for sure sign of roos. our gold sebright doesnt have hardly any comb at all, but the silver has a small comb developing.

Sounds like you have the perfect little flock of cockerels!

Im so excited to had found this page!!!!! We are new "bird" owners,4 chickens and one rooster,I've learned that we have so much to learn! My hen has 14 eggs and she finally started laying on then yesterday, but because I don't know a whole lot I'm not sure if the time she didn't lay on them did any harm and she actually seperated them into 2 different piles and only sets on one! Has anybody else ever experienced this? Any info is well apperciated! TIA!
