All of those breeds sound good!Thank you all! I have picked my flock,I hope it is a good pick and will be ordering in the spring. 2 black australorps,2 golden laced wyandottes,2 barred rocks. I am still not sure what rooster I am getting. I want a friendly one. I just love to listen to my neighbors and I want one of my own! So it down to an Australorp, golden laced or a light Brahma.Any suggestions?
All of those breeds sound good!If it were me, I would get a Golden Laced Wyandotte rooster. They are beautiful birds that are usually quite gentle. Light Brahmas are pretty, too.
I don't have a Golden Laced Wyandotte rooster, but I have two White Wyandotte roosters (same breed, just a different color). They are gentle and never attack me or the hens. I've found that the Wyandotte roosters have great temperaments.I thought about getting a golden laced but now that be been reading how they turn mean and the hens too.I've read that also the barred rocks can be bad as well. So I think I've gone down to Black Australorps and a couple wyandottes. I really did like the golden laced rooster,he is beautiful! Anyone on here have one?
