I'm sorry, that is just why people should not SURPRISE someone with a live animal, when they don't have any of the provisions needed to raise them.

It is probably a couple of days old if she got it at a feed store, it will need a brooder box, draft free, with a heat lamp, and wire top to keep it in the box and prevent others from harming it. Chickens are very social animals and do best with a buddy or two. In lieu of that you can provide a mirror, so the chick thinks its not alone, a small stuffed toy to cuddle with. Also chick starter food and water dish. If you raise it as an only chick, it will bond with you - cute for now but, annoying when you leave the room and it starts cheeping for you.

today makes two weeks of having him I have pine shaving bedding, heating lamp and chicken starter feed but I don't have the appropriate feeder and waterer I only have plastic bowls and the water and food gets everywhere *idk when I'll be able to go to town* any help on that

I agree. Chicks need a friend.

I'm glad you joined us.

Good luck with your little chick! It would be ideal to get him a friend, as chickens are flock animals.
