Hi! I just rescued a grey male cockatiel from the city pound!! They called and asked if I wanted to take it if a owner didn't call with in a week of it coming in..

So I got to pick it up on Sunday. I have read up on online sites about care and feeding..But any advice from BYC'ers would be very help full!! I will try to get pictures later tonight ..to many other things calling me now..

How to tell his age is one thing I didn't catch on the other sites?

I plan to intrduce him to my keets and house them together and yes the cage is big enough!!

Thanks for any and all advice!! Susan

My 3 cockatiels live in the same floor to ceiling cage with my 2 parakeets. I did have 12 parakeets in there with them, but sold some (they were soooo noisy).

Mine require very little care...nail trimming every so often, gently file down their beaks a little if they don't do it themselves, mine eat toast, apples, crackers, chips, grapes, whatever we put in there they will try. Some liquid vitamins in their water (per directions) and I mix parakeet seed with cockatiel seed and they eat from the same dish.

Good luck with your new addition
