New to cooking turkey, please help!

Hello,

Is a male turkeys meat as tough as a rooster? I culled a turkey tom months ago and have thawed it out but just realised that rooster meat is tough and yuck. Is it the same with turkey males?

God please tell me I haven't wasted my time thawing and preping it if its just gonna be like eating a boot.

It will depend on the age, breed and a lesser amount diet on the tom. If he's older,you can't use dry heat and have a tender bird. I don't know if deep frying would fix it but stewing an old rooster is the way to go.

Did you let the carcass rest before freezing? How old was the bird?
