New to deep litter and ammonia smell - start over or just add more pine shavings?

I would make one wall all wire. You are in a mild climate which helps.

I would also clean everything out and start over. Then I would be stirring it up every morning.

A wire wall isn't too drafty? It's been so hard to figure out "ventilation" from "draft."

It will get into the teens occasionally. Right now it is in the 40s at night, mid-70s in the day. I'm in the upstate, so in the foothills of the mountains.

I see.

Best course may be as others suggested and scrap the deep litter until numbers are down significantly.

Your coop size is better for about 20 birds maximum.
